About SELO, Inc.
SELO, Inc. aims to promote and assist Houston's refugee community in the following areas:
- Adult Education
- Youth Education/lostboys and lostgirls of Sudan
- Job training
- Counseling
- Peer support
- Day care
To achieve its goals, SELO will:
- Hold meetings to determine community needs
- Organize conferences to generate understanding of educational, career, and leadership issues in the community
- Continually provide information and outreach services in the community
- Develop and sponsor training programs to assist the community in achieving self-sufficiency and educational advancement
- Obtain information and resources to help vulnerable children and adults improve their daily lives
- Promote peer support and counseling among community members
- Create harmony among all ethnic and religious persuasions in the Sudanese community with the goal of establishing a unified voice in the Sudanese community
SELO, Inc. is organized solely for educational and charitable purposes to promote education, job training, and leadership skills in the Sudanese community, without regard for ethnic or religious backgrounds.
In particular, SELO will work with vulnerable individuals, students, and community members desiring to accomplish their educational and career goals. By working directly in the Sudanese community and with the greater Houston community, SELO will build capacity for growth through educational development, job training opportunities, and leadership development.
